Some Merchandising Tips for Displaying Fresh Sweet Corn
Consumers love fresh sweet corn. To help drive your sales, correct merchandising and ad strategies are critical to your success.
- To keep corn fresh, display it in refrigerated cases. Sprinkle with water every 2 hours. Do not allow corn to sit in standing water.
- If corn is displayed outside of refrigeration refresh displays every 1-2 hours
- Build large displays during key selling periods
- Display bulk corn and packaged corn side by side for maximum impact
- Offer your consumers two varieties of corn (ex: Bi-color and white) during peak selling times
- Keep displays free of loose husks and silk.
- Convert all bulk corn left at the end of the day to packaged corn. Completely strip the husk and silks before packaging.
- Offer consumers multiple sizes of packaged corn (ex: 2pk, 4pk)
- During picnic/barbecue season, display corn with barbecue tools, disposable tablecloths and skewers.
In addition to good visual displays of the product, it is helpful to create point of sale signage that will provide your consumers with additional information.
